After Central Barry attended Temple University where he studied Mathematics, went to Rutgers University for a Master's degree in Computer Science and went to the University of Illinois where he received his Ph.D in Mathematics.
His academic career:
Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Syracuse University - academic year 1976-77.
Instructor at Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI from 1977-1980.
Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Drew University in Madison, N.J. since 1980.
Author of several books including "Java For Dummies", and "Ruby on Rails For Dummies."
Barry's personal life:
Married to Harriet Ritter in 1980, with two children: Sam born in 1985 and Jennie born in 1988.
"I'm really proud of my "Java For Dummies" book. (Actually, I wrote "Java 2 For Dummies" editions 1 and 2 and then had it re-titled to "Java For Dummies" edition 4. I'm working now on edition 5.)."
