Paul M. Popper
Dr. Paul Popper has served Charlotte County as a leading cardiologist in the field of Consultative and Interventional Cardiology since 1985. He has lead the community in the growth and development of nationally recognized cardiology and cardiac surgery services both in his private and hospital practice.
He is Board certified by the American Board of Cardiology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Popper specializes in Adult Consultative Cardiology, Cardiac Catheterization, Angioplasty and stenting, Preventative Cardiac Care across the lifespan, Advance Heart Failure, Advanced Hypertension, Advanced Cholesterol Control, Valvular Heart Disease, Arrythmia Management, Device Management of Pacemakers and ICDs, and Anticoagulation Management.
From 1991 through 2011, Dr. Popper was the Chairman of The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of Charlotte Regional Medical Center, and is currently seated on the executive committee. He served as the Medical Director of the Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Transition Team and developer of the Peace River Medical Center Hospital new comprehensive cardiac service program and tower. He actively supports and previously served on the Board of Directors at Peace River Medical Center Hospital, Cardiology Associates, and Gulf Coast Imaging.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), a Fellow of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention (FSCAI) and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease in 1986. Dr. Popper participates actively in the American Heart Association and previously was on the Board of Directors for Charlotte County. Dr. Popper has performed over 15,000 Cardiac Catheterization and Angioplasty procedures during his career. He is one of the former founders of the full service Cardiovascular Outpatient Facility at Cardiology Associates.
Background
Dr. Popper is a graduate of Temple University, pursuing his training in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center and received Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in 1986. His post–graduate training in noninvasive and invasive cardiology was also completed at Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was a member of the Comprehensive Cardiac Catheterization, Angioplasty and Cardiac Bypass Surgery team.
Dr. Popper established the Center for Performing Hearts Paul M. Popper, MD, PA for treatment of Advanced Cardiovascular Health and Disease and Heart Failure. In addition, since joining the medical community of Charlotte County, he has been instrumental in the development and establishment of Charlotte Regional Medical Center hospital’s Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Program. Under his Chairmanship, The Heart Institute at Charlotte Regional Medical Center has been named as one of the top 100 Best Heart Hospitals in the country for five years consecutively.
He continues to pursue his academic interest in medicine in the treatment of Cardiovascular Disease, Heart Attack, Congestive Heart Failure, Arrhythmias, Hypertension and Pacemaker/ICD technology. He has been identified as one of Americas’s Top Cardiologist and has been voted as the Best of Charlotte for Cardiology for three years.
Personal
Dr. Popper is a native of Philadelphia. He currently resides in Punta Gorda with Deborah Jo, his son Ariel, daughter Hilary and grandson, Duke. Among his pleasures are traveling, sailing, skiing, swimming, gardening and motorcycle riding.
