Information about Maurice Holland Unthank, Jr. came from various internet sources and

Maurice Holland Unthank, Jr.
(1949 - 2008)

Maurice was the son of Maurice H. Unthank, Sr. and Ruth Browner.
He was born on July 17, 1949.
He died July 21, 2008, age 59.
He has one brother, Michael K. Unthank.
He was married to Daria and had two children, Nicole and Kellye.

Maurice apparently attended college at the Hampton Institute in Virginia where he was part of a musical group
called Quiet Fire along with Philippe Fields and Oscar Jai-Tee. He was later part of a group known as The Jive Five
(aka Eugene Pitt & The Jive Five). He is associated with several musical arrangements available on CD's and was known
as a talented piano player. He was residing in Brooklyn, New York when he passed away on July 21, 2008.



This is the group Quiet Fire but I do not know which one is Maurice.

According to the person who posted this on YouTube, the group consists of
Eugene Pitt, Artie Loria, Daniel Loria, Bea Best, Harold Gilly, & Maurice Unthank.

On June 07, 2022 I was contacted by Patricia A. Hill-Flowers, B.S., Ed.M., a
lifelong friend of Maurice and she wrote "In the clip in which the group is singing
and introducing themselves, "The Jive Five", Maurice is in the front row, first gentleman on the left."

In June 2023 I was contacted by classmate Richard Unti (226) who added this comment:

"I was looking at a post about the Jive Five and I could not believe my eyes.
Maurice went to Central High school in Philly at the same time I did.
Always a genial fellow (I think he was a piano player). I remember him singing
'The book of Love' at the bus stop after school. Sorry to hear of his passing
but about 1/3 of our class has passed away. Thanks for the remembrance.
Mr Pitt was a great singer and is not forgotten in Philly because of Jerry Blavat."
