Reid was born in Philadelphia on September 26, 1949, the son of the late Raymond and Vera (Cowen) Beck. His wife, Miriam, was born in Philadelphia on February 8, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Francis and Miriam (Horan) Carey. They had two children, daughter Verity and son Justin. The daughter stands accused of murdering Reid and Miriam by shooting them each in the head once and then using a chainsaw to dismember the corpses. Further information on this tragedy is widespread in the media so I will not repeat it here.

I prefer to have classmates relate stories from Central days and later positive experiences with Reid. My records indicate that he was in Book 101, my own "book" yet I have no memories of him. Frthermore his photo is included in the 226 class yearbook but his name was not listed in the NOT listed in the Commencement booklet. Please share YOUR stories. Send photos if you have anything. Eulogies are welcome.
